I came accross this video on facebook the other day. It’s about a guy, Arthur Boorman, who not only lost 120lbs but learned to walk again in the process!!
I watched it just before I went to teach a morning camp. During the camp a few of the camp members (it nearly spread to everyone) started saying I can’t do this excersise, my arms are too weak after what we’ve just done.
I immediately thought of this video and explained what it was about. The camp mentality quickly changed and everyone finished the session strong.
There are many times when you’ll feel like not training, think the exercise is too hard or say screw it I want to eat X. It happens to me a lot too (don’t be surprised, I am human) but I resist and change my thought process. Rather than give in I think about the reasons not to give in. And I am definitely adding this video to those reasons.
There’s a great quote from Arthur in the video
“Just because I can’t do it today doesn’t mean I’ll never be able to do it”
I’d like to add just because training is hard doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it or that you can’t. Hard and challenging is good, it means results will happen because your body has to adapt.
99% of the time easy and gentle will get you now where because you can already do it and there’s no reason for your body to adapt.
I’d love to hear what inspires you and what makes you tick, leave your comments below
